I was only 22 weeks pregnant when I developed sudden severe flank & RLQ pain & was admitted to L&D for further testing. Fortunately, everything was good with the baby & most of my test results. However, this did not answer the question as to why I had so much pain. Everyone who took care of me (nurses & physicians) was absolutely incredible & took my pain seriously. However, I wanted to give a special shoutout to Alysa Lee, my dayshift RN, who went above & beyond to take excellent care of me. She made sure I was as comfortable as I was able to be, giving me extra pillows, helping with positioning & a heating pad to try to make my pain better. She was a great listener and great communicator and always got back to me with any questions that I had. She was present when urology came to give me my diagnosis, keeping herself updated on my status. When I wasn't able to eat much, she provided me with small snacks which were easier to eat while lying down. Her attention to detail, great communication & listening skills, & excellent bedside manner were second to none. You remember how you're treated when you're in pain & Alysa (as well as the rest of the staff on my case) showed me nothing but care & comfort. When the time comes for me to deliver, I am 100% confident in the care I'll be receiving from Cosgrove Maternity Center.
