My dad had heart surgery recently. Alyson Kolbus was the Unit Clinical Expert on the unit almost every day my dad was there. She often would check on the nurses who were helping Dad to ensure they had everything they needed, help cover breaks, provide guidance, and really whatever is needed. She hugged us, cried with us, learned my dad loved country music, and offered her own little personal speaker to pair with a phone to play his favorites. Dad was very critical the entire time, Ally prayed with us over my dad, and she brought a rosary to place with Dad. Both my mom and I were so touched by everything she did to comfort us, take care of Dad, and take care of the other nurses on the unit. Alyson Kolbus is a wonderful example of the Franciscan spirit and what makes the care delivered at Franciscan. Thank you, Aly, you are amazing.
