This leader goes above and beyond the call of duty for this patient. This patient has been on our unit for over 500 days. This patient also had a stroke previously, so he is aphasic. This patient has had some behavioral and psych issues preventing placement. However, she has created a relationship with the patient that helps him stay on schedule, and he follows instructions due to the environment Amber and the assistant nurse manager have created. They are constantly providing for his needs while also being the assistant nurse manager and nurse manager for our unit. They take him outside, bring him clothes and shoes, make sure he has clean clothes, and buy him snacks outside of the hospital food he gets. They have provided an environment for him to succeed and stay on his meds.
