Amber has repeatedly shown that she is here to support our team in any way she possibly can.
Despite being new to her role, Amber consistently makes herself available for her staff. She has an open-door policy where she makes time for her staff to feel safe and comfortable coming in to speak with her regarding issues or situations. She not only communicates respectfully and professionally whether it is via written or verbal communication, but she is also an amazing listener. I firmly believe that her having experience as a clinic nurse and charge nurse in our unit prior to taking her position has helped shape her into the model professional nurse manager that she would have wanted, and we are so grateful to have her.

Amber is readily available via in-person, email, and text. As one of the charge nurses in the clinic, it is so comforting knowing that she will respond to my texts or emails in a timely manner, it makes me, and the rest of the staff, feel very supported. Moreover, she has an open-door policy when she is in her office. She utilizes a whiteboard that is on her door to notify the staff if she is unavailable (i.e. meeting, rounding, etc.) which is extremely helpful when we are looking to meet with her in person. She also allows staff to write their name on the board when they need to meet with her, and she will make every effort to meet with these individuals by the end of the day even with her busy schedule. The accessibility and responsiveness
she shows to the team like none we have ever experienced at the Women's Center before.

In situations where staff have encountered problems or difficulty working with APPs or MDs, and they reach out to Amber regarding this issue, Amber has been quick to reach out to her counterparts or the corresponding leadership to ensure the problem is resolved in a timely manner. She also takes the time to listen to the staff and ensures that they are aware that she is taking the steps to resolve these situations. Amber has repeatedly shown that she is here to support our team in any way she possibly can.

To ensure that the needs of the teams are communicated to organizational leadership, Amber follows a chain of command and reports the needs of the team to the Nursing Director. She is also active in shared governance where she will voice concerns as needed. To ensure organizational priorities and directions are communicated to our team she uses a variety of communication techniques. She will email the team. She will also schedule one-on-one meetings with individuals as needed, inform the team via bi-weekly huddles, hold monthly staff meetings, or let our charge nurse team know via our weekly meetings. Amber is very good at communicating.
