My husband and I traveled to Grady for surgery with a particular doctor. We were seven hours away from home, planning to go home after day surgery, but ended up being admitted for a two-night stay. My husband had a very long night. Amber came in the next morning and was a breath of fresh air. She had a big smile on her face and was very engaging. She was thorough in her approach and immediately made a personal connection.
Throughout the day my husband stated "she is the best nurse I have ever had! She is knowledgeable, kind, concerned and has met my every need". She developed a plan for controlling his pain and was able to get it under control. Anytime he asked for anything she was prompt and always so kind and considerate. She truly likes taking care of patients. Not only did she take excellent care of my husband, but she also anticipated his needs.
Being a nurse myself, I recognize what excellence is. A nurse can have clinical skills but going above and beyond to meet the emotional needs of the patient and family is a very special nurse. Amber is a special nurse.
