The SGH Jeddah Ambulatory Care Clinics team is more than just a group of healthcare professionals—they are a family united by a shared mission: to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while upholding the hospital’s core values of integrity, passion, dedication, people-centricity, respect, responsibility, trust, education, and innovation. Despite many challenges, the team consistently demonstrated extraordinary collaboration, impacting and improving the lives of our patients and their families. The team members work together by anticipating each other’s needs through effectively covering staff shortages in other clinics, sharing resources, and providing support and guidance to ensure that every patient receives the best possible care.
Each plays a vital role in the team: doctors develop comprehensive treatment plans; porters, PCAs, and PCTs usher patients with their families; and nurses, most especially, seamlessly and efficiently perform procedures and coordinate patient care. Moreover, the team collaborates closely with other departments, ensuring smooth clinical operations on a daily basis.
The team’s dedication to excellence also extends to improving patient satisfaction by implementing action plans and improvement projects to reduce patient wait times and enhance the overall patient journey and experience. Their tireless efforts have resulted in improved patient outcomes and satisfaction scores in the recent 2024 Press-Ganey Survey results as evidenced by increased scores in all domains including Information About Delays (82.45%), Concerns of Nurse/Assistant for Problem (88.3%), How Well Nurse/Assistant Listen (89.36%), How Well Protect Safety (91.38%), Our Concern for Patient’s Privacy (89.66%), and Staff Worked Together to Care for You (88.7%). Feedback from their patients and families has also been very positive.
Additionally, highlighting the team’s other achievements, they have successfully implemented nurse-driven initiatives such as the allocation of a breastfeeding room for mothers as they wait for their turn to see the doctor in the OB-Gynecology Clinics; re-opening of the children’s play area completely furnished with toys, television, games, and coloring materials in the Pediatrics Clinics; structuring of the patient queueing system in the Internal Medicine clinics; development of the Patient Pathway to help patients navigate in the hospital as they complete their pre-admission or pre-procedure requirements in the Oncology Clinics; as well as the nurse-led revision and creation of some policies in ambulatory care according to the latest evidence-based practices.
The Ambulatory Care Clinics team exemplifies what it means to be DAISY Award Honorees—compassionate, dedicated, and driven to make a difference. Through their exceptional teamwork and devotion to excellence, they have transformed the patient experience.
