Amy is a BCMP RN working in CICU on nights. She recently was caring for a 72-year-old patient that was a post-cardiac arrest. The outcome was expected to be poor, and the family was planning for comfort measures.
The patient had a birthday while in CICU. After a string of 12-hour night shifts, Amy went to the store and bought birthday decorations for the patient's room. She also bought cupcakes and decorative napkins for the family. Amy helped to bring a moment of bittersweet happiness to this grieving family. What a kind gesture that they will always remember.
