One day, shortly after I started my shift, Amy called me from the ED requesting that I come down because they got a report that a pediatric patient was coming in with CPR in progress. All Hands on Deck. We tried to revive the patient but he was down too long. As the family began to arrive at the ED, Amy showed so much strength and leadership. She hugged the mother and walked her into the room to see her son. She sat with her and helped her through this difficult time. She personally walked the grandparents and other family members to the room and offered a shoulder to cry on. She was exactly what that family needed. She called up to OB and asked if there was anything they could provide for the grieving family. We couldn't save the little boy's life, but Amy did everything else she could possibly do to be a blessing to that family. I hope she knows she exemplifies the characteristics of a nurse I would want and is a true DAISY Nurse.
