Amy created and delivered an informatics targeted knowledge transfer focused on Modernization to Artificial Intelligence with emphasis on the deployment of AI across the health care continuum and integration into health care delivery.
Throughout Amy’s tenure with Cerner, she has consistently exemplified the mission, vision, and imperatives of Cerner Corporation. Her deep understanding of the nursing process coupled with a natural curiosity has led to her stepping up to help create or partner with others to create needed content and knowledge in many developing and cutting-edge areas of informatics and nursing practice, including artificial intelligence, downtime planning, and modernization.
Amy’s collaborative leadership instills confidence in her colleagues and clients to advance informatics and nursing practice toward better and safer patient care. Amy fostered forethought to the rapid impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare delivery at the Summer Institute in Nursing Informatics (SINI). In collaboration with a colleague, Amy created and delivered an informatics targeted knowledge transfer focused on Modernization to Artificial Intelligence with emphasis on the deployment of AI across the health care continuum and integration into health care delivery.
In a consulting engagement, we often assist our clients in working through processes to prepare and support the end-user and patient in the event of downtime. With the recent rash of very public and damaging cyber and ransomware attacks impacting healthcare organizations, the need to expand this effort to an all-encompassing disaster recovery plan was recognized. When Cerner Consulting began to focus on Cybersecurity, Downtime, and Disaster Recovery with an eye on the unique impact on the end user and patient care, Amy stepped up to drive the effort and create a cohesive strategy. She brought together expertise across the various Cerner organizations, including our fellow associates in the international markets, led a thorough literature review, and sought “lessons learned” from our clients and industry research. She has been able to secure and de-identify many policy and process examples from our client base. These efforts are taking shape in the form of collateral and knowledge transfer that will support our clients, colleagues, and patient safety across the healthcare continuum.
Amy builds relationships based on trust and advocates for what is best for clients and peers. Considered both a thoughtful and pragmatic leader, Amy is often recognized by the UPMC CNIO and her Cerner teammates for her intense efforts to ensure we are presenting “One Cerner” to our client. Further, as a longtime proponent of the Clinical Adoption shared governance, Amy chairs our Professional Practice Committee helping to coordinate the vast source of knowledge and collateral that is crucial to the support of her Clinical Consultant colleagues.
