My mom had a severe stroke and was taken to Nebraska Medicine. After being in the ICU for a few days, she was transferred to the 6th floor in Clarkson Tower. I have to say that all personnel we encountered for the next week on that floor were wonderful!
Ana Ahrens took care of my mother for her last two to three days, thereby taking care of my father, my sister, and myself as we stayed for several days and nights while my mother's condition worsened.
Ana got the worst of our personalities as we were all terribly edgy and upset as my father's wife of 70 years and our mother slowly declined. Ana kept my mom very comfortable, and us as well, with her assurances and uncanny way of coming in and medicating mom so (at our request as well) she would not feel any pain. She clearly saw our distress and really was a comfort to us all. She repeatedly asked us what she could do to help. I do know each nurse has several other rooms and patients to oversee, but she made us feel like we were her only concern; a very difficult thing for someone with several duties to master.
Ana saw us through some of our darkest days, just like an angel on Earth. Thank you, Ana!
