Knowing this would be the only opportunity for the patient to see the house, Andrew did not hesitate one bit.
Andrew goes above and beyond patient care standards. Andrew was in a home visit for a patient who changed very quickly. He was entering the end-of-life stage, and all this patient wanted to do was tour his new house that he had just moved into a day or two prior. This patient was weak and could not transfer from the bed to the wheelchair. Andrew assisted this patient and gave him his final wish of touring his new home. After this was completed and Andrew assisted the patient back into bed, he asked if there was anything else he could help with, and this patient stated, “You have done it all, thank you.” It’s moments like this that make Andrew such a worthy nurse. He did more than just the job description. Knowing this would be the only opportunity for the patient to see the house, Andrew did not hesitate one bit. Andrew said this was something that he will hold with him, it reminded him that although working in hospice can be difficult and hard it’s these special circumstances that make it all worth it and then some.
