Angie is always calm, professional, and compassionate. Honestly, no small feat on the senior unit with confused and, at times, agitated patients. She is always helping patients with activities of daily living, and impromptu staff talks to facilitate the treatment team with problem-solving behavioral plans. She is always seeking new learning and asks thoughtful questions of providers. There is never a time when I hear Angie respond in anything other than a therapeutic way. Angie is always willing to figure out how to meet patients where they are and she is willing to change course when the patient needs her to. She isn't tied to doing things her way, and she is always helpful to her team whether they are regular staff or staff that comes from the other stress center units. Senior unit is unique in its attention to activities of daily living because senior patients need a lot more assistance with this. All our staff is wonderful, but many staff who float to us are not used to the demands of ambulation assistance, showering assistance, and at times feeding assistance many of the senior patients need. Angie never makes anyone feel bad for needing her to give them an extra hand so they can feel comfortable.
Recently, the acuity level on the Senior Adult Unit was at an all-time high. Several patients were screaming throughout the day and night, destroying property, requiring restraints, and frequent redirection, all of which were extremely stressful to all the staff. Angie was the picture of calm in an atmosphere that was highly charged. Her compassionate and patient demeanor served as a model for the entire staff at a time that we needed it most.
Angie has a lovely sense of humor and is liked by all. There is rarely an associate I can say that always has their best foot forward, but in Angie's case, I can say this is 100 percent true. Angie is the picture of a DAISY Nurse. She came from a medical-surgical unit and so she has so much knowledge medically as well, which is also really important to our senior patients. She knows when to be alarmed and look for medical issues, and she understands when it intersects with psychiatric issues. Angie is a joy to work alongside. Angie is loved by her team, by patients, and by family.
