I work in the Tampa HomeCare office-Utilization Review. In doing my job I rely heavily on the eyes and ears of the field clinicians to give me an accurate picture of what is going on with a patient so that I can appropriately code the Medicare assessments for reimbursement. In saying that, my department oftentimes face challenges where we don't get an accurate picture of the patient needed to do our job. I can say that there is one clinician who stands out and always performs and assesses with accuracy. Her observations are impeccable and her continuity of care really shows her love, care, and knowledge regarding patients. Her consistency in giving full reports and full completion of Oasis assessments not only benefits the UR department but everyone involved in patient care. Angela Lala, RN has performed above and beyond her job-related responsibilities in making sure that the patient and/or family is taken care of with excellence, trust, dignity, respect, and responsibility (BayCare Values).
In a society that has a 'quick, fast and in a hurry' mentality, no matter how busy her schedule is, she always finds the time to exemplify the highest quality of care and respect for her patients and fellow team members. She is knowledgeable about her patients and if we need to call her with questions she has the answer (a True Case Manager and patient advocate). She is a team player-she does everything that is asked of her without opposition. Her patients love her and she is highly respected by her fellow team members. For example, just yesterday, in a rare occasion that she forgot to complete an Oasis Transfer (she is human, after all), I emailed her to complete this form and within the hour of me emailing her it was completed and my job in processing assessments in a timely manner was not hindered. The Tampa UR Department would like to thank Angela Lala. She is what BayCare Homecare is all about.
