Ann is an excellent nurse she is patient, competent, and always maintains a professional demeanor.
Ann acts as a mentor to new nurses and registry staff. She is always willing to help those who need it whether they are patients or staff members.
Ann developed a program to help train registry staff and single handedly orients registry staff for all the medical surgical floors in the hospital.
I remember one occasion when a patient who was being discharged had a slight disagreement with the doctor because she felt like she was not ready to be discharged. The physician screamed and yelled at the patient and the other nurses. The Physician also insisted the patient be escorted out of the hospital by security. The patient was calm and cooperative; all she had done was request an extra day in the hospital. Ann spoke to the doctor about how inappropriate his/her behavior was and then ensured the patient had everything she needed before she left the hospital. Ann respected the patient’s dignity and did not call security to escort the patient out, but instead made the patient feel safe and comfortable with being discharged home. Ann advocated for her patient’s safety and dignity and showed the doctor how caring professionals manage patient concerns.
Patients and staff can always count on Ann’s compassionate care and assistance; she is a perfect example of what all nurses should be to each other and their patients.
