May 2012 Honoree
ann mcmullen, RN
Ann McMullen, RN is our most recent recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses after a fellow nurse nominated her for “going above and beyond” as she raised money so a patient could benefit from a massage.
In the nomination, the nurse described how Ann got to know the patient and family on a personal level. She even purchased a new CD of one of her patient’s favorite artists – Tony Bennett in order to help the patient relax. “Ann established a friendship with the patient,” the nurse wrote. “She exemplified DAISY nurse qualities by becoming a primary caregiver for a patient who really needed extra emotional support.”
