At discharge I was scheduled for 2 weeks of IV antibiotics twice a day at special nursing services. During my time coming here in the beginning I was still very ill, and Ann Arnold went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. I myself am a nurse and she is a shining example of how to treat a patient as a person.
My husband was very concerned about me and Ann took the time to speak with him in length about the things I was too tired to give him the proper education for. She ensured I was eating properly, staying hydrated, asking if I had extra help at home and checking to ensure I was still able to drive myself after I had gained some strength. To me these are all examples of things that a nurse and caregiver need to remember while at home after being discharged and follow up with the patient.
About a week into my treatments Ann noticed that I was backtracking slightly, and that morning called the doctor on call explaining my health status and after I had left called me at home to tell me the recommendations. If she had not done so I would have not gone to the ER for feeling so ill. When I arrived at the ER, I was very sick once again and was admitted at that time. After discharge I continued my treatments with Ann working most days during my final IV antibiotics. Ann's caring, kindness and professional behavior made coming here these couple of weeks twice a day for 3 hours at a time much more bearable.
