January 2013 Honoree
anne wood, RN, MSN
I was blown away by Anne in her professionalism, attention to detail, positive attitude, flexibility, and desire to really make a difference! Anne floated to our floor and took on a pretty challenging situation with an Arabic speaking family. The patient was slowly weaning of methadone and intermittently experiencing withdrawal symptoms. The plan for the day involved: advancing NG feeds from a pump to gravity bolus feeds for discharge. When I went to speak with Anne about the plan, I kind of assumed I would find an overwhelmed float nurse pulling her hair out. Instead, Anne had already established a systematic plan for advancing feeds and working with the parents. She continued to update me throughout the day and even spent time patiently teaching a nursing student. She was fantastic! Although the withdrawal symptoms increased that day and set back some of the NG teaching /advancement for discharge, I still believe that she exhibited the core vision and mission of what Seton is founded on and she did it with grace and joy!
Thank you, Anne, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
