This caregiver oftentimes gets asked to care for or assist patients who are Spanish-speaking. She is always willing to help aid with translating to provide patient care. One day she had around 5-6 patients she was helping to translate for, while providing care for other patients. One of the patients was not responding well to treatment and needed a medication changed, and this would mean the patient would have to come in for an infusion twice a day, and this patient did not have the means to be transported to the clinic for her infusions twice a day. This caregiver made some calls to see if there was an alternate treatment for this patient. This patient also needed financial assistance. After this caregiver collaborated with members of this patient's care team, the patient was prescribed an oral medication she could get at a reasonable cost.

This patient was able to get the medication/treatment they needed without the burden of finding a ride to the infusion center. Also, this patient's labs were elevated so she had to miss several doses of medication due to elevated lab results. So, by advocating for this patient, a medication was prescribed that could be taken on a daily basis without the fear of harmful effects.

Thank you, Annie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
