My husband was admitted. Due to an elevated calcium level, he was confused and hallucinating. The situation was understandably extremely stressful. Over the weekend, my husband was very lucky to have April as his nurse. April had six patients to care for, but we felt as if my husband was her only patient. She explained everything he/she was doing, what the lab results were, and what the orders stated. She seemed to anticipate my husband's every need, and we never had to wait for answers. I am a former ICU nurse, and we felt like we were in the ICU because the care was so intensive. April was instrumental in giving my husband a good beginning to his recovery and in helping me handle an extremely stressful few days with information and very competent, compassionate care of my husband.
