April has been our son's nurse more than a few times. Since the beginning of his arrival, she has gone an extra mile to help us understand any questions and answer and doubts we had. She is very patient and kind, but most importantly very encouraging. She has been our son's biggest cheerleader and one of our biggest supports as NICU parents. She has given us the biggest comfort when she is our son's nurse. It is always a struggle to be away from our son, but she makes it very easy to trust and confide in her. She has helped us in so many ways: always holding him correctly, educating us on skin to skin, teaching us the importance of breastfeeding and pumping, and showing us the correct method to bottle feed. She makes us feel like she has our backs. So many days I've come in discouraged and upset, on the verge of tears, but her kind words have never failed. She reminds us that we are doing our best as parents, even though we don't always feel like it. She always reminds us of his progress and how he will continue to grow. April has made our NICU visit easy and is always so sweet. Not once has she been rude or misleading. She is always approachable and makes such a huge difference in the NICU unit for us. We can never thank her enough for taking such great care of our son and for her pep talks. She has an amazing soul. She has been the most nurturing, compassionate and understanding nurse in this time of need. Thank you, April, for treating our son as more than just a patient and reminding us as parents that we are not alone.
