My mother has been a patient on J11 twice and April has been so attentive and always accessible. She is very patient, compassionate and knowledgeable. She lets us know where she will be if we need anything. We feel confident in her care. She is an A+ nurse! I would always want to be on J11 where she would be working. We have never had a better nurse!
Note from the unit director: The family nominating this RN has had a difficult road with their mom who is 98 years old. Her daughter is the caregiver and is having great difficulty with her mother's deteriorating condition. Many of our staff have been overwhelmed (compassion fatigued) by this family, but April, in particular, has patiently gone above and beyond to assist and accommodate the patient's daughter.
One way she has exemplified compassionate care was to listen (for long periods of time) to the daughter express her care and concerns for her mother. It does not matter how many times she is needed or called on by this family, April is there with a smile on her face.
April consistently displays compassion, patient and empathy for her patients. Her patients feel secure and confident that they are in good hands. Every shift I round, I receive compliments about her knowledge, patience, and skill. She is a great asset to our team and HMH. She truly is a nurse's nurse.
