April Vargas, RN

April went above and beyond today. She had a patient who had recently lost his wife and was being admitted to the hospital. There was a delay in transport, and the patient appeared sad and wanted company. April sat with him during her lunch break and allowed him to tell stories about his life and his wife and how their 75th wedding anniversary would have been soon. He continued on with beautiful stories until EMS came, and April said goodbye. Afterwards, I told her to clock out no lunch since she did not take a true break, and she stated, "It's no big deal I am just going to heat up food real quick." April continued to show just how lovely of a soul she has while she continued insisting that "it wasn't a big deal." I just want to recognize and thank her for being the Extraordinary Nurse and person that she is.
