After my thyroidectomy, I explained to a nurse that I was uncomfortable because I had a large piece of raw carrot stuck in my molar. I asked if they might have some dental floss on the floor. (Ardly was not assigned to me) We laughed because I was trying all sorts of things to try to get the wedged carrot out of my tooth. This nice man went down to the gift shop and found out it was closed, so he left work that night after his 12-hour shift, and drove to a store to purchase dental floss for me. He picked up a twin pack and returned to the hospital to deliver the floss to me. He wouldn’t let me pay him for it. I still can’t believe that someone would go out of their way just to make me feel more comfortable. He truly touched my heart and made a huge difference in my stay. I will forever remember him every time I floss my teeth. I can't thank him enough for going above and beyond. It is the little things that truly make a difference. Thank you, Ardly. You are a truly compassionate and caring nurse!
