After arriving at the ER and having abdominal surgery a few days later, I was in the orthopedic unit through the week. During that time, I was in constant pain and discomfort and unable to accomplish the simplest tasks. I received care from more than 10 nurses. Arlene stood out as a true gem. She was positive, upbeat, and cheerful when I wasn't, and when I needed physical and mental support she was there. Even though she was in high demand on the floor, she made me feel like I was her only patient. She was empathetic while remaining extremely professional. Arlene is an example of everything one could hope for in the nursing profession.
