My husband had open-heart surgery to replace an ailing aortic valve. We were both stressed and blessed as we entered this uncharted territory! We were quickly surrounded by our beloved children and informed and comforted by competent physicians and nursing staff.
The surgery was completed successfully and off to the ICU we went. This is where the overwhelming and scary part sinks in! However, this is where we met the most amazing nurse, Aruna Maharjan. She is surely one of God's special angels. She was so competent in her duties and never failed to explain what she was doing or answer any of the many questions we had. Her tasks were unending in those first hours and all completed with confidence. Her clinical knowledge was apparent. Such caring she showed. A gentle touch to calm. Quietly spoken words of encouragement. Compassion not only for her patient, but extended to a hovering family. Now that shows true courage!
On her day off, she just popped in to check on us. She gave my husband a hug and showed genuine interest in how he was doing. WOW! What a wonderful person. The nursing profession is truly blessed to have her among their ranks.
