Ashley was not only incredibly attentive, but she also took so many opportunities to do things for our son that truly made the experience far better than it should have been.
This nurse cared for our two-and-a-half-year-old little boy, who fractured his tibia and came in for X-rays. It was a long wait, and she went out of her way to ensure our wait was as painless as possible. She brought stickers and coloring pages and popsicles. She allowed us to go on a walk to break up the monotony and even met us on our loop to let us know the X-ray results were not ready and to take another lap. She went out of her way to be a pediatric nurse when needing to splint the little one. Our visit to SVMC would not have been the same without her. We were so lucky to get her as our nurse! We are grateful!

Our 2.5yo son fractured his ankle while playing and he was predictably miserable and uncooperative during our ER visit which included imaging and applying a temporary cast. This is his first injury requiring emergency care and it was a bit rough. This nurse was not only incredibly attentive, but she also took so many opportunities to do things for our son that truly made the experience far better than it should have been, and for a toddler (and their parents) that is no small feat. Stickers, popsicles, funny faces… She was awesome even when you could tell she only had a few seconds to spare. She truly embodies what I consider to be a high-level healthcare professional- not just treating the injury but the patient and having the empathy and awareness to know when a personal touch would benefit. This is my first experience with the SVHC ER, but in the future, I would not hesitate to return given the compassionate and professional care my son received from this nurse.
