Ashley went above and beyond to help us. She is a very compassionate and caring mission partner!
I am the primary caregiver for my mother, who is in assisted living. She was displaying possible cellulitis issues, so the assisted living facility requested she be seen by her doctor. When I called in the morning for an appointment, I also explained that her C-PAP machine wasn’t working and that she might need another. I don’t have any knowledge of how to care for or operate a C-PAP machine, but I am learning, and I do know her doctor said she has to have one. I explained to the call center nurse that even though we were scheduled for her to see the doctor at 5:30 pm, I didn’t want to miss getting the information about a new C-PAP since the appointment was late in the day. She told me someone would get back to me before the end of the day. I had not gotten a call back from anyone regarding the C-PAP before seeing the doctor at 5:30 pm that day.

When we came in, Ashley was the RN caring for my mother. She was bright and cheery, and my mother loved her colorful socks! I explained to Ashley that I was afraid my mother would be going without a C-PAP since I didn’t get a callback. She could see my frustration and concern. She said the doctor should be able to help. She said she had to leave for the day but would call me tomorrow morning to make sure I had answers. She called me first thing in the morning. The doctor had put in the order for a new one, but Ashley said from her experience with these, it would be a lot of paperwork and would take some time to get a new one. She knew we needed one ASAP. Ashley reached out to my mother’s Neurologist, who isn’t an OSF provider, and asked about what we could do.

She found out the name of the company that we purchased the C-PAP through and got a number for me to call to try and work with a technician over the phone to walk me through the error codes on the C-PAP. She also said if that didn’t work, we needed to make an appointment to see her Neurologist in order to get another one. My mother hadn’t been to see her Neurologist in over a year.

Anyway, my whole point of this story is that Ashley went above and beyond to help us. She is a very compassionate and caring mission partner! She reached out to another provider to get things rolling for us. I understand she has only been with OSF for about three months. We are very lucky to have her, and I am proud to have her as a fellow mission partner.
