What can you say about one of God’s angels sent to us at a very scary time? We were here with my mother, 900 miles from home when I became very sick. My niece had suggested we go to a freestanding ER. We were immediately taken back, and my symptoms became increasingly worse. The doctor came in and told us I would be sent by ambulance, and admitted to Edinburg Regional Medical Center. I was absolutely scared to death, had never ridden in an ambulance, and was admitted to an unknown hospital. We were brought directly to the floor and there was a nurse at the bedside getting us situated. Into our room walked our angel Athira, and all of a sudden my anxiety was over. She was gentle, funny, informative, and just what we needed. She was not only our caretaker but almost immediately became our friend and we knew she cared!!! We were not just the patient off the street or the patient that came in by ambulance. She Cared!! How blessed we have been to have had her in our lives this short time, just how blessed the doctors and hospital and fellow co-workers and all who know her and come in contact with her. She is blessed beyond words. If anyone deserves special recognition, our precious Athira does, not just today but every day.
