We recently had a home health care patient, whose home environment was not suitable to have wound dressing changes there. To be able to provide a safe and clean environment, Audra Lyman developed a plan to care for the patient outside in their front yard. Audra had a tent set up and acquired a zero-gravity chair to provide the patient's wound dressing changes. Over the past few months, Audra has done these visits with typical Iowa weather; hot summer days, rainy/windy days, and even a few early winter-like temperature days. The patient's wound has healed so well that it can now be safely managed by the patient/family. Thank you, Audra, for providing creative and innovative ideas to give the best possible care for our patients.

Audra is relatively new to the Home Health setting. She came to us with a wealth of knowledge in nursing and the desire to learn more. In the last few months, she has had a very difficult home health patient with wound care that required a nurse 3 times weekly. Unfortunately, the client's home was in deplorable condition, with multiple infestations that did not allow the nurse to perform wound care inside the home. Instead of discharging the patient, Audra went way above and beyond what was required of her in securing funding for a tent and anti-gravity chair to put in the client's front yard so that wound care could continue to be completed as the client did not have gas money to go to the wound clinic every week. During very warm temperature days, rainy days, high wind days, and recently very cold days, she demonstrated diligence in her desire to help this patient heal her wounds. Audra demonstrates the genuine desire to help others to the best of her ability and is deserving of the DAISY Award. Audra recently discharged the patient with all of the goals met. You Go, Audra!!!
