My ex-husband and father of my children, C, was admitted to ICUafter suffering a massive heart attack and was on life support through the week. The loss of C is still very fresh in our hearts, so it has taken me awhile to write this letter to explain how much myself and the family appreciated all the care that the ICU staff provided during this time. I'm sure that many of the ICU staff will remember my extended family and friends, as we are numerous and most came from out of state to be with C during this time. I do however feel it is necessary to bring to light one individual that stood out above the rest and this was Austin.
Although I never got to meet Austin personally, I was very thankful for all the care that he provided as my family told me over and over again how wonderful he was in caring for C. Not only was he thoughtful to the entire family during this time, but he explained to the family everything that was going on, procedures that were being done and step by step the cares that he was going to provide. But the one thing that stood out for them and brought them the most comfort, was that he always spoke directly to C while providing these cares, even though he was unresponsive. The personalized care of my children's father and how he provided supportive care to my extended family is just one reason I have come back to Good Samaritan Hospital as an RN. We have some of the most caring, knowledgeable, and wonderful staff of any hospital I have ever worked for in the last 18 years.
