I have worked with Babette on several cases that have involved patients and families that need support regarding end of life situations, deaths, critical decisions regarding the plan of care, etc. On Saturday, June 27 Babette called the chaplain for support for an elderly woman (and her 8 children and grandchildren) who had been given a poor prognosis. Babette knew the family was grieving and called the chaplain. Because of her sensitivity and consciousness of whole person care, I was able to ensure that the patient was anointed because she was a lifelong catholic, and talk with the family about their anticipatory grief, need for hope, and their difficulty seeing their beloved mother and grandmother go through this painful period.
When an RRT was called on this patient on Sunday, July 5, I was able to be with the family again. Having already established a relationship with them because of Babette's referral was a help in this critical moment.
This is just one example of Babette's care, compassion and sensitivity. She works collaboratively with the care team and draws upon the expertise of her partners in patient care. She always provides an accurate overview on the situations that helps me in assessing appropriate interventions. She is very pleasant and professional. It is a joy to work with someone that is so warm, kind, considerate, and caring for those we serve.
