Ms. Barbara Mejia exemplifies the best of what an ambulatory nurse is in today's busy urban community. Ms. Mejia works in a large urban community health center where she manages the care coordination for the patients four doctors. Along with her daily duties which include patient education, medication administration, triage and more, she also manages the Buprenorphine program. This program is intended you care for those clients who have had substance abuse challenges and ensure that they can continue with their daily lives while managing their substance abuse without entering into an inpatient treatment program. Ms. Mejia was recognized for the DAISY Award by both her patients and providers. She was described as attentive, compassionate, and trustworthy, with a very high level of skill.
