I was admitted to the OB department after I was involved ina hit and run accident when I was pregnant with my first child. I was cleared from the emergency room at Bellin but needed to be monitored in OB for several hours because I started with contractions. This is the first time that I met Becca. She was fantastic that night and continued to monitor my contractions and keep my family and I updated on my situation. During her examination, she even was brave enough to remove a wood tick that had somehow found its wayontome while I was painting my deck earlier that day! Together Becca and Dr. Sara Swift were able to get the contracts to stop and I was able to go home. During what was a very stressful situation for us, Becca was able to remain calm and compassionate.
About 2 weeks later I was admitted to the OB unit again, this time for the birth of my son. I was blessed again to have Becca as my nurse. She immediately came into my room and told my husband and me how excited she was to get me as her patient again. Becca went above and beyond to make my stay at Bellin a pleasant one. She helped me through my labor pain and nausea. She didn't get to see my son born on her shift but knew that it would be happening soon after she left. Before she left she told me that she couldn't wait to come back tomorrow to be my nurse again and meet my little one. Sure enough, the next day came and there she was again! When she was my nurse I never had to ask for anything, she was always one step ahead of me. She also took the time to help me through the struggles of breastfeeding.
I really enjoyed that she took the time to really get to know me and my husband. She really went above and beyond during my stay. I was blessed to have Becca as my nurse. Bellin is lucky to have her and so are all of her future patients.
