One day, when she was dealing with a long list of obligations and already delivering the highest level of care to our patients, a particular patient became increasingly agitated regarding a lab draw he needed. This nurse was incredibly calm and compassionate with him. She finally de-escalated him and got him to agree to the blood work and made a series of phone calls so he could get the treatment he needed for multiple comorbidities he had. Despite being verbally mistreated by some patients, she consistently treats all patients with an equal level of compassion. She is able to work calmly, and quickly, in high-stress situations, and simultaneously maintains good working relationships with all unit staff. She deserves recognition for all she does for our patients and team!
