I was here in the critical unit for a very long time; probably well over a month. I was very sick after my surgery and my family did not expect me to make it. There were days I felt like giving up, but your team refused to allow me to give up. One nurse specifically stood out. When he was assigned to me, I would get angry because he showed compassion but would not allow me to have self-pity. He was firm about me getting out of bed every day as well as moving around. I didn't want to hear what he had to say. He would even come and check on me when I wasn't his patient. That was when I knew he wasn't going to leave me alone. Because of his concern for me and not giving into to me feeling sorry for myself, I am able to be independent again. I am now back working and feeling healthy. He saved my life. Blessing Mhere, thank you for not giving up on me.
