Throughout this incredibly sad and stressful time for our family, Bre was a bright light for us all but especially for my father. He would light up every time she entered the room.
Our 87-year old father was brought to Baptist after a serious (and eventually fatal) automobile accident and Bre cared for him the first several days he was admitted and several other times during his 3-week stay. Throughout this incredibly sad and stressful time for our family, Bre was a bright light for us all but especially for my father. He would light up every time she entered the room. We teased him that she reminded him of his youngest granddaughter because she and Bre shared the same beautiful red hair. On days when he was not feeling well and was not talkative, Bre could make him smile. It is impossible to list all the examples of Bre's incredible compassion and kindness because they were so numerous. Because of the many visitors and his lengthy stay, Bre made sure my dad was moved to a larger room with a window once it became available, and that made a huge difference in his final weeks. Even when she was not assigned to my father, Bre would stop by and check on him and they would have a nice chat. On the day before he passed away, Bre was not scheduled to work, but came in anyway so she could care for my father. It was an incredible comfort to have Bre care for him this last day. My father told Bre that she was an inspiration to him. In this devastating time for our family, there are no words to express how meaningful it was to have Bre at our side. She is an incredible person and nurse. We were so grateful for the exceptional care my father received from all the nurses and doctors. There are several nurses who went above and beyond in caring for my father, but Bre forged a special bond with my father and our family. We will never forget her.
