I would like to thank nurse Brendan Gluss for his exemplary care while I was a patient at Stamford Hospital for two days. Brendan was compassionate, caring, and above all a great advocate for my wellbeing. He went above and beyond to hear my concerns and made every effort to find a way to improve my condition. He was open and honest about what was happening the entire time, and although it was an extremely scary experience, he made me feel comfortable. He was calm, cool, and collected during a very stressful time which was exceedingly reassuring.

I would like to thank Brendan for the extraordinary care he gave to my daughter during her hospital admission over two days. He was transparent in his approach, tenacious in his efforts to advocate for her, and compassionate in his care. As a mom and a nurse, he demonstrated the qualities that I respect and expect of a nurse and our profession. He questioned the rationale regarding a medication order, consulted with the pharmacist regarding doses, and skillfully drew my daughter's blood.

This past week, my sister was admitted to Stamford Hospital and Brendan was her nurse during her first night of admission. While I do feel that all of the nurses took good care of my sister, I truly feel that Brendan's care went above and beyond.
From the moment Brendan's shift began, he was very adamant in making sure my sister received the best care possible. Brendan very quickly noticed that the course of treatment my sister had been receiving was not making as significant of an improvement as intended. He went to bat for my sister and discussed this with the doctor, seeing what other options were available to help my sister's condition improve. Brendan's feedback was noted by the doctor and changes to her medication were ordered. However, the prescription ordered was one that surprised him. Brendan was very transparent about this and explained that he was going to follow up with the doctor again to make sure he understood exactly why the medication was prescribed, as he had never seen it prescribed in that manner before. This left my family and I feeling very reassured. Brendan wanted to make sure that this truly was an appropriate treatment option for my sister.
When he did receive the doctor's reasoning, he relayed that information to us quickly and allowed my sister to make an informed decision regarding trying the new prescription. Brendan also asked when the last time a doctor had been up to examine my sister, communicated this to the doctors, and helped ensure that she would be seen first thing in the morning. My sister, my family, and I are all truly grateful for the amazing care that Brendan provided to her. It was very clear to us that he is a highly attentive, dedicated nurse that wants to make sure his patients are receiving the best care possible.
