My son was exhibiting some new issues and his neurologist sent him to the ER for tests and to check for a bleed in the brain or similar issue.
My son has autism, is 26 years old and non-verbal, who has a whole host of medical issues and not-so-great memories of hospital/doctor experiences. When things go bad with him, they go bad fast and severe.
Brett LISTENED to our concerns, what we know works and what doesn't. He bent over backward to make things happen. When he heard he had to count to 10 to get an IV in AND blood drawn with no tourniquet, he said okay—and I think he was actually done by 8. Confident, compassionate and a great listener, he went above and beyond to keep my son safe and calm and to get done what needed to be done.
When my son has a good experience like this, it makes the next doctor appointment even better as he remembers everything. We would be most appreciative if you would extend our thanks to Brett and let him know the extra heart, effort, and patience REALLY mattered.
