Brian demonstrated his excellence in his profession by relating to my father and his needs and encouraging him.
My father has been a patient at NMC since April 2021. He has had a rough go the last few years as his health declined and other health issues arose. He was never a quitter and continues to put up a good fight. He has received good care at NMC; however, one nurse stood out above all the rest, Brian Kane.
Brian was my father’s nurse this past Saturday. Due to Covid restrictions, my brother and I had to do window visitations on the days we come in, on Saturday, I met Brian through the window.

What I witnessed in Brian was nothing shy of pride. The professionalism, respect, involvement, dignity, and excellence I watched was heartfelt. I had dropped off a bag of things for my father at the front desk and once the young lady brought them in, Brian took them out and handed them to my father one by one. Never once bothered by this task. Brian made eye contact with both my father and I outside the window. He assisted my father up and out of his bed and even maintained my father’s privacy and dignity while doing so. Brian was so involved in my father’s care that day. He engaged my father in conversation. They exchanged stories about their time in the services. Brian demonstrated his excellence in his profession by relating to my father and his needs and encouraging him. That evening when my brother and I touched base about our father’s condition the first thing we said to each other was “Boy, wasn’t Brian great. If only we could hire Brian to take care of Dad.” Brian gave my brother and I hope, but he gave my father so much more. He agave him dignity and respect, and those two things go a long way in our family. Thank you, Brian.
