She recognized the seriousness of the situation, responded quickly, initiated all pertinent communications, remained calm in front of family, and prioritized moving this patient
This nurse has been an ICU nurse for a short time but has very quickly shown to be an essential and effective part of trauma ICU. Last week she had an otherwise stable and downgraded patient quickly take turn for the worse. This patient had been admitted for possible splenic injury that had been stable and very acutely started bleeding, patient became very hemodynamically unstable, and clearly symptomatic. She recognized the seriousness of the situation, responded quickly, initiated all pertinent communications, remained calm in front of family, and prioritized moving this patient to the OR in a safe and timely manner ensuring the best outcome for this now critical patient. This patient had a good outcome. As an experienced ICU nurse, I can attest that it was Brianna and her ability to recognize, react, and respond that saved this patient’s life. I am proud and grateful to work beside Brianna.
