I’m a 42-year-old male who had a procedure done at Sacred Heart in Miramar. Over the past few years, I’ve had multiple surgeries (5) prior to retiring from the Army. Over the course of these surgeries, I have consistently experienced negative/aggressive behavior coming out of anesthesia due to PTSD. Normally, I leave feeling embarrassed and ashamed of my reaction. Nurse Jones went above and beyond to educate herself about my past reactions and arrange for me to have my own recovery room in the event I had another episode. It is my opinion this small gesture, along with being aware, prepared, and extremely compassionate with me, greatly assisted in my first successful wake-up. It may seem small, but from the perspective of someone who has continually dealt with leaving a hospital ashamed of their reaction, this was a breath of fresh air and made the whole experience a positive one. I’m extremely grateful for all the Nurses and Doctors involved with my procedure.
