Brooke was nominated by a patient who had been admitted to her Medical-Surgical Unit with Sepsis. The patient stated, "I felt horrible & the doctor informed me that it would be another day or so before I started feeling better. The tears flowed." Brooke sat with her patient and comforted her while she cried. Brooke was noted to have "such a bright spirit, easy manner & giving heart." Brooke even took time out of her busy patient care schedule to contact the patient's husband to surprise the patient with a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard to help cheer her up.
