My dad passed away this morning. He had been at Seton for about a week with flu. He was 86 and had mild to moderate (sometimes severe) dementia. Bud Mayo was his nurse in ICU for 2 days. He was so kind to my dad and treated him with so much dignity. After they took the ventilator tube out, Bud washed my dad's hair and shaved his face. I told Bud that my dad always liked to look nice.
Bud also was so nice to the family. He explained everything to us and asked us if we needed anything. He also was very kind to my mom when she called. He told her she should probably not visit as the flu bug was prevalent in the hospital. He told her she could call anytime for updates. It is evident that Bud has a love for his job and for people. His dedication and positive attitude made this difficult time much easier for us. Thank you, Bud! You are an awesome nurse and we so appreciate the care you provided for "grandpa" in his final days on earth.

Thank you, Bud, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
