Cait was working with a patient with a terminal diagnosis. The patient was upset to be in the hospital on Easter and would miss watching his granddaughter's annual Easter egg hunt. He told Cait he hated to miss it this year because he didn't think he would be here to see it next year. Cait then planned for the patient's family to come on Easter Day and planned for an Easter egg hunt outside by the main entrance of the hospital.
On Easter Sunday Cait was placed on-call and did not have to come to work. Cait texted one of the fellow nurses at 5 am that morning to make sure the patient knew she would still be true to her word. Cait came in on her day off, bought the supplies and orchestrated a wonderful Easter egg hunt for this patient and his granddaughter. It was certainly Extraordinary care!
