My surgery began very late and my wife wanted to see me to my room after I started to wake up in the post-anesthesia care unit.
She slowly made her way to the second floor, she was still recovering from lumbar surgery, and that's when she met Caitie.
Caitie noticed, and she helped her come down to the PACU and say goodbye to me. Then she wheeled my wife out to our car around midnight and made sure she knew her way home
By the time I was ready for the floor, I was in a lot of pain and my blood pressure was high, Caitie talked with the hospitalist and quickly treated both my pain and blood pressure - she popped in often to check on me and distracted me from the pain in between doses of pain meds
She was really caring and went out of her way to make me as comfortable as possible & it worked! My blood pressure came down because I wasn't focused on pain.
Caitie reminded me of Florence Nightingale and made a huge difference in my wife and my experience
