September 2015 Honoree
carla woods, RN, BSN
Carla is always a caring and compassionate nurse but on Tuesday July 7th she went above and beyond. A car arrived on campus with an overdosed patient and family members were attempting to do CPR. Carla found the patient with a strong pulse and while waiting for staff to bring equipment and a stretcher she provided breaths via mouth to mouth. I later asked Carla about the situation and she said "He had a strong pulse and I was afraid that if he didn't get oxygenated we would lose the pulse too". I admire Carla for this care because in today's world not many nurses would have provided mouth to mouth and would have waited for the equipment to arrive. It is Carla's patience and compassion to help others that we see every shift she works.
Thank you, Carla, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
