Carolina (Lina) started as a nurse manager at JSUMC in September of 2023 to help open the Blood and Marrow Transplant dedicated unit on Brennan 6 BMT. Lina has a vast knowledge of Blood and Marrow Transplants from her 12 years working on the BMT/Cellular Therapy unit up at HUMC, spending much of that time as a charge nurse leading her peers. Lina is a dedicated leader who leads by example, taking every chance to jump into patient care, educate her staff, and advocate for her patients as the BMT program grows and evolves here at JSUMC. Lina tirelessly works to educate all team members within the organization of the Blood and Marrow Transplant program, partnering with infection control, environmental, maintenance, patient experience, and other units where our patients flow through to enhance the quality and safety of the BMT population. In addition to the many initiatives she belongs to within the hospital in representation to BMT, she is also building and supporting/creating opportunities for further education for BMT nurses beyond 1 year and career growth through certification review programs, some examples are BMT education day and BMT RN Nurse Fellowship. She helps mentor new staff to foster the same passion she has for the BMT population. Lina has done all of this just within her first year as a nurse manager. We are so lucky to have someone so motivated and caring to lead the inpatient BMT team.
