Pain can be a prominent roadblock to the recovery and well-being of patients. One patient struggled to find a nurse who would make taking care of her pain a top priority. Then she met Caroline McKinley, a float nurse with St. John Medical Center.
"Caroline made me believe in angels again when she took over as my nurse," the patient said. "She could read, with incredible accuracy, my face when I was in pain."
Caroline helped with the patient's pain management medications and celebrated with her when the patient's pain was reduced to a tolerable level. "She made taking care of me seem like a privilege, not a job," the patient noted. "I would be extremely fortunate to get another nurse that would ever care as much as Caroline did. She is one in a million!"
