Kandi Major was encouraged by a family member when seeking a career path to join the nursing profession. Forty-seven years later, Kandi has full commitment, passion, and dedication to nursing. Although Kandi retired from a full-time nursing profession, she continues to work in healthcare. She is currently our MRHS administrative officer.  
She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the nursing profession. In her nursing journey, Kandi fulfilled many roles, from a compassionate, caring bedside nurse to an educator and preadmission rehab nurse. She has also served as a leader and nurse manager for rehab, telemetry, and intensive care units. She has worn many hats in her career while fashionable, enlightening us with her numerous pin collections. Kandi is also a longstanding member of the Critical Care Nurses Association.

When asked how she would describe the nursing profession, Kandi views nursing as diverse with opportunities for growth in many different paths.  Her peers and staff are inspired by Kandi’s commitment, ongoing engagement, and dedication to the nursing profession. 

Work- life balance is important to Kandi. She has explored the world through her many travels. She enjoys those adventures with her husband, family, and close friends. 
When Kandi is asked, “Why have you stayed in nursing for so many years?”  Kandi shares that nursing is her passion and calling. Nursing can be challenging but is a beautiful profession! Kandi feels she has had the best of both worlds. She inspires the new generation of nurses to find their niche in the field of nursing and to embrace each learning opportunity continuing to grow with passion.
