I wanted to let you know that my parents and all of my family are extremely grateful for the great care your staff provided to our mom during her stay in your unit (7 West). While they all provided great quality of care there was an employee that shined in our eyes and especially in my mom's eyes.
That night after mom's surgery when she was brought over to her room her oxygen was low and we were told that it was due to the morphine. While us kids were worried to see mom's reaction we started feeling comfort when we saw how Cassie remained calm and in control and kept walking us thru what was happening. Once my mom was more aware of her surroundings and saw Cassie she tells her "aren't you a little too young to be my nurse?" Cassie just smiled and assured mom she was in good hands. The next morning when we showed up to the hospital, all we would hear was how great Cassie was. We reminded mom about her "too young comment" but mom did not even remember she said that. In any case, when my mom saw her that next night she was happy to see Cassie back because mom stated she felt comfortable with Cassie. Her comment was "it's like one of my own daughters is taking care of me". Cassie was not scheduled to work the next night and mom was not too happy but when she saw her the next night she told me right away with a big smile on her face "Cassie is working tonight".
Again, everyone in that unit was great but Cassie's compassion, dedication and the way she spoke to mom and cared for her made her shine above and beyond. Mom does not normally compare anyone to her daughters so when I heard mom's comment I knew Cassie was Superstar.
While we all thanked her over and over while we were there we would like to recognize her because she truly demonstrated everything our Service Excellence and Mission Statement is about. I got to observe her with other patients as I walked the halls and I could tell that she cared for all patients in the same manner.
